What is Histodle?
Histodle is a daily timeline puzzle. You read a short description of a historical event and must name the exact year it happened. You get six tries. Each miss tells you whether the true year is earlier or later than your guess and how many years you missed by.
It is not Historydle. Historydle asks you to identify a famous person from clues, quotes, and portraits. Histodle never asks for a name: the secret is a date, and the hunt is a shrinking range on the calendar.
Histodle Game Rules
One event per day. Enter a year. Too early means the event is after your number; too late means it is before. The distance in years is a rangefinder, not flavor text. Only the precise year wins. A sixth miss reveals the answer and usually a short explanation, so you leave with the fact even if the timeline beat you.
- Guess the exact year of Histodle’s daily event in six tries.
- Feedback is earlier or later plus how many years you are off.
- Close decades still lose; the year must match.
- Histodle is a date hunt, not a “name the figure” quiz.
How to play Histodle?
Press Play on this listing to open official Histodle. Anchor the event in an era, then use distance clues as bounds instead of throwing random centuries.
- Read the event for technology, war, politics, and likely region.
- Enter a year that splits history, then note earlier/later and the gap.
- Guess from the other side to trap the answer between two bounds.
- Step inside that window until Histodle accepts the exact year.
Histodle Strategy & Tips
Open with era posts such as 1789, 1914, 1945, or 1991 rather than a wild four-digit stab. Treat the year-gap like a binary search: eighty years away needs a leap; three years away needs a nudge. Ask when the mentioned tech or institution even existed before you commit. Do not confuse Histodle with Historydle’s person modes if you came here for a year.
- Use Histodle’s first guess as a period fence, not a trivia snipe.
- Jump far when the miss is large; inch only when the gap is tiny.
- Date the tools in the clue before you date the headline.
