What is Chemdle?

Chemdle is a daily organic-chemistry puzzle. You see substrates, reagents, and conditions, then draw the missing product in a structure editor. Six submissions. Matching fragments light up; a recognized intermediate can confirm the pathway without finishing the problem. Bond order and stereochemistry can still fail an otherwise pretty skeleton.

It is not a periodic-table spelling bee. You are predicting a transformation, sometimes several steps of a published sequence.

Chemdle Game Rules

Study the scheme, draw a molecule, submit. You have six attempts to hit the accepted final product. Correct substructures highlight. A bond in the right place with the wrong order can be flagged separately. A valid intermediate may be recognized and still not win. Some puzzles add progressive hints. Connectivity, functional groups, and relevant stereo all matter.

  • Draw the product; do not type a common name.
  • Six Chemdle submissions to the accepted structure.
  • Matching fragments and some intermediates give partial credit as clues.
  • Stereo, bond order, and leftover protecting groups can still be wrong.

How to play Chemdle?

Press Play on this listing to open official Chemdle. Name the reaction class from the reagents before you open the editor. After a miss, keep the highlighted skeleton and only repair the reaction center.

  1. Read starting material, reagents, and conditions on the Chemdle scheme.
  2. Decide oxidation, reduction, substitution, or another class, then draw.
  3. Submit and study which fragments matched.
  4. Edit the failing group, check stereo and bond order, and submit again.

Chemdle Strategy & Tips

Reagents first. Preserve confirmed pieces instead of redrawing the carbon count. Track which atoms come from the substrate versus the reagent. Check wedges, alkene geometry, and oxidation state before you spend a try. On multistep boards, a recognized intermediate is a green light for the next transformation, not the finish line.

  • Classify the reaction before you draw.
  • Keep matching Chemdle fragments; only change the wrong center.
  • Audit stereo and bond order on every submit.

FAQ about Chemdle

What is Chemdle?

Chemdle is a daily organic chemistry game where you draw the missing product of a reaction in six attempts using a structure editor.

How do you play Chemdle?

Open official Chemdle, study the scheme, draw a molecule, and use highlighted matches and possible intermediate recognition to reach the exact product.

Does a matching skeleton win Chemdle?

No. The accepted product needs the right groups, bond orders, and any required stereochemistry.

Where can I play Chemdle?
