What is Chartle?

Chartle is a daily geography-and-data puzzle. A line chart plots several countries over time; one series is drawn in red. You name that country in five tries. There are no extra hint chips after a miss—only the title, axes, units, and the shape of the red line.

The skill is chart literacy plus a mental atlas: population spikes, emissions cliffs, GDP kinks. Repeating a country is blocked. Fewer guesses is the better Chartle score.

Chartle Game Rules

Five guesses, full country names. A wrong name gives you no new overlay, only the knowledge that it is not that country. You cannot submit the same country twice. A fresh chart appears each day. The red line is the only series you must identify; the gray companions are context.

  • Identify the country of the red series.
  • Five tries; no extra hints beyond the chart itself.
  • Duplicate country names are rejected.
  • A new Chartle dataset rotates daily.

How to play Chartle?

Press Play on this listing to open official Chartle. Read the headline and units first, then ask which real country would produce that red trajectory.

  1. Note Chartle’s title, time span, and units.
  2. Describe the red line: spike, collapse, plateau, or outlier scale.
  3. Guess a country that actually has that history.
  4. On a miss, eliminate that nation and compare remaining candidates to the curve.

Chartle Strategy & Tips

Units beat vibes. A per-capita series is a different country than a raw total. Outliers are often the point of the red highlight. Combine region size with policy shocks (reunification, oil, pandemic). Play daily so you start recognizing which charts the site likes to reuse as formats, even when the country changes.

  • Always parse title and units before the first Chartle guess.
  • Treat the red line as an outlier story, not as “a big country.”
  • Never repeat a burned country name.
