What is Numbword?

Numbword is a daily five-letter word puzzle whose answer must also add up to a published target. Letters carry alphabet values (A=1 through Z=26). After a guess you see the word total plus color on letters: blue means the letter appears in the answer (not necessarily in that seat); gray means it is gone.

It is not Numble and not Numblino. Numble is arithmetic with six number tiles toward a target. Numblino is trivia estimation. Numbword still needs a real English word; a perfect sum made of junk letters fails, and a beautiful word with the wrong total fails too.

Numbword Game Rules

Type a valid five-letter word. The game scores letter presence and shows how the five values combine versus the target. Too high means you need cheaper letters; too low means you need heavier ones. Position is not fully locked by blue. Duplicate-letter cases follow the official coloring. The daily secret is one word that satisfies both dictionary and sum.

  • Find a valid five-letter Numbword whose letters sum to the target.
  • Blue letters appear in the answer; gray letters are out.
  • The guess total tells you if the next word should be lighter or heavier.
  • A new word and total appear each day.

How to play Numbword?

Press Play on this listing to open official Numbword. Start with a common-letter word near the middle of likely totals, then steer with blues, grays, and the running sum.

  1. Read the Numbword target and enter a five-letter test word.
  2. Note blues, grays, and whether the total is high or low.
  3. Swap expensive letters (W, Y, Z) or cheap vowels as the sum demands.
  4. Keep confirmed letters in the mix until the word and the total both match.

Numbword Strategy & Tips

Add in your head before you submit. A stylish word that overshoots by 12 is still a miss. Blacklist gray letters completely. Blues are membership, not a green lock, so shuffle their seats. Common mid-value letters (A, E, L, N, R, S, T) make better probes than a Q-heavy stunt. This is not a six-tile calculator and not a higher-or-lower trivia hunt.

  • Check the Numbword letter sum before you press enter.
  • Never reuse a gray letter.
  • Treat blue as “in the word,” not “in this column.”
